Acknowledgment of Country Transcript

Acknowledgment of Country

At Chester Hill High School, we acknowledge the Cabrigal People of the Darug Nation as the Traditional Custodians of this Land, these skies, and our local waterways.

We honour Elders, past and present, recognising the long and enduring tradition of teaching and learning on this Country.

The Cabrigal People were the first educators on this land. For over 60,000 years, they have passed down knowledge and wisdom through Language, Ceremony, Story and Song.

And this learning continues across New South Wales, and Australia, when we seek to understand their ways of knowing, being and belonging.

At Chester Hill High School we are committed to respecting and valuing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures as an essential part of our shared identity.

At Chester Hill High School we believe that learning about the world’s oldest living societies strengthens us all. We are committed to shared knowledge, shared understandings, empathy, and unity.

At Chester Hill High School we walk alongside our First Nations’ sisters and brothers, and strive for a spirit of reconciliation, truth-telling and mutual respect.

Many of us were born here in Australia. Many of us were born overseas. Together, we journey with First Nations’ families towards a future where Country is honoured, culture is celebrated, and education inspires us all.

This is, always was, and always will be Aboriginal land.
